MSN Messenger Contacts Sync With Adium Contact List - Broken

Hi there,

Done some testing as well as contacted MSN Messenger support personnel from MSN.com and found this conclusion:

1. You edit contacts group using Adium
2. Shutdown Adium, run MSN Messenger, new contact list appeared after changes
3. Make modifications of contact list at MSN Messenger
4. Shutdown MSN Messegner and fire up Adium
5. MSN contact list screwed up, if you go back to MSN Messenger or Hotmail contact list, all contacts has been reverted back to prior Adium settings.

Conclusion: There is a problem with Adium handle MSN contact list to MSN account.

Hi David,
This is really something you should create a Trac Ticket about, since it's a bug report. As it happens, the issues related to MSN contact list editing are well known and there are several tickets about it already. See #1190, #147 and #609 for starters.

Is there any workaround? I see only remove the entire xml file for MSN buddy then restart will force Adium to fetch a new copy from servers. The alglrithm seems like Adium does not do a fetch from servers as latest contact list.
