Icon in top right system bar

When I first began using Adium, a little sillouette of the program's icon appreared in the upper right corner of the screen, too the left of the clock, network, and battery status. That icon is no longer there, but the iChat one still is (the greyed speech bubble). How can I get the Adium icon back up there? (and my apologies for not knowing the technical name for that bar of info in OS X, im guessing its something like the "system tray" in Windows?)
Much appreciated,

Just to let you know, it's a menubar icon.
Go to your preferences, and in the General tab, make sure "Show Adium status in menu bar" is checked.

Got it, menubar. And I have had that optiion selected, but I'm actually talking about when Adium isn't open, having that icon stay up in the menu bar. Is this possible?

man, i would love if that would be possible (it is mb?) to let it stick even when you quit Adium, Like iChat does.

This has been talked about to absolute death, and this thread is going to be locked. Here is your answer, in the hopes that all future searches find this thread.
iChat is able to do this because they have a completely separate program open after iChat quits than handles the menu. Adium does not have this, and the Adium developers, long ago, said they were not willing to have a separate program open for such a task.
The Adium menubar icon, as it stands now, is only there when Adium is open.

Unlocking for a moment:
The 3rd party non-hack menu items appear in the order they are launched. Change the order of the launch of your menu items to have it appear closer to the right.
