Direct Connect and File Sharing Problems

Post by jlehrfeld »

Perhaps this has already been posted, and if it has I apologizing for repeating the same question.

I'm having problems with direct connecting to other buddies (both initiating and responding to a request). I'm also having problems sending files and receiving files from buddies. In both cases, I send the request (or accept the request), but nothing happens after that. I just get an interminable "waiting" sort of dialogue. Nothing ever comes of that.

I haven't tried connecting or sharing a file with a buddy who is also using a Mac, so I don't know if it's a Mac-PC compatibility issue or if it's a general Adium bug, but if there's a way to fix this (even if it's just pointing me to a previous thread), I'll REALLY appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks so much!

I'm just experiencing REALLY slow transfer speeds of around 2 kbs/s. I don't know why... it works a lot faster on the normal msn messenger. Explaination?

Direct connect and file transfer are unreliable and slow. This is a known issue with the libgaim code. No ETA on a resolution, although some avenues are being explored.

That said, even after following those instructions... it doesn't work for me. :(

Thanks for all your replies, I really appreciate them. I didn't know it was a widespread problem, so even though that means there's a smaller chance of fixing it, it does make me feel better to know that there's nothing wrong with my machine or anything else I've purchased.
