About retrieving away messages

I am having the same problems as the starter of this thread with retrieving away messages from some of my contacts.
This is an issue that I have been waiting for audium to correct, but maybe there's no awareness of the problem!?
Most of my contacts are ICQ users (or they use clones like miranda etc. but most of them are Windows users anyway). As Adium works today, I am not able to retrieve these contacts away-messages. I can only see "Away: Yes", when i move the mousepointer over the specific contact.
I do not think this is an issue of which client my contacts use (since they are using both ICQ, ICQ Lite, Miranda etc... ) I rather believe that this is an issue in AdiumX.
With programs like ICQ, Miranda (for Windows) there is no problem at all to retrieve these Away messages. I don't know whether the retrieval of an away message should be done through a direct connection with the contact, or through the ICQ-server. Maybe this is the problem? That AudimX only contacts the server when trying to get this information?
I would be happy if a developer could answer this. I could maybe helpout to solve this issue as well, since I do have some programming experience, but not on my Mac.

This topic is problably also connected to the auto-away message that was discussed in this thread. I would like AdiumX to (have the possibility) to behave as ICQ-clients, when it comes to away-messages.
A contact of mine, that is using an ICQ-clone should be able to retrieve my Away message as if I was using any ICQ-supporting software. The solution with an auto-reply, as it is today, only feels like a way around the problem. Also, my contact using ICQ, will wonder why I am answering (with my auto-away message) , since I am away....
