MSN filtering messages

Post by Prominairy »

I noticed the other day that any message containing the string '.scr' would not be received over MSN. This includes even such things as 'www.scrabble-assoc.com'. Anyone else noticed this?

Did you both use Adium or did any one of you use a recent MSN client? I was thinking that maybe it's a security thing in either Windows or the MSN client; some paranoia about possibly infected screensaver files or whatnot, however weird that sounds.

I only tested this by sending myself a message on Adium - which IIRC bypasses the protocol all together (yes?). I'll look into it soon...

It seems you may be right... anything with ".scr" doesn't seem to send... *scratches head*

Weird. I wonder if it works on the official client like that, too?

I suppose it's MSN which do that. we can transfer this kind of files too :
.exe, .scr, even .php when I work with friends usin' msn, I must rename files to ".txt" :p
