Jabber: Joining a chatroom

Post by ralf.wenzel (at) email.de »

Hi,

I am running Adium's latest version. Now a community I joined switched their chat engine from HTML-chat to a modified jabber-server. They configured some chatrooms and I don't know how I can log in.

I CAN login to the jabberserver and I AM able to chat, if some in that room sends an invitation to me. But how can I join the room without an invitation?

Adding a user (ID=name of the chatroom = room@domain) does not work, unfortunately.

I'll be happy if someone could help me. I don't know which jabber server they are using and they won't tell me (it's a sort of "security by obscurity", i think ;) ).

TIA

Ralf

You'll need to know the conference server; that's how Jabber conferences work. File->New Group Chat; you'll be prompted for the conference server and room name.
The duck still burns.

Oh, it works!!! I think I've to know the features more than I do.....

But now my next question ;) What can I do to avoid the necessity to do that manually? I'd prefer to open it as easy as beginning a chat with someone in my buddylist.

And is there any way to see who is in that room (like users of "exodus" can see it), bevor I joined??

Thanks again!
