Connection error from Notification server (messenger.hotmail.com):
Writing error

Thats the message I get when I try to get my MSN to go online. Ive only recently downloaded Adium, but so far I've had no luck getting it to work.

It basically means try again later - the MSN servers are down. I'm having the same problem here. They should be back up tomorrow

Is this a reoccuring error though, cus its happened to me EVERY time I've tried logging in. Ive tried maybe three or four times, on completely different days, weeks apart. Ill keep trying though, I guess...

And the reason I wanted Adium in the first place was cus my MSN doesnt work either..(and yes, I have the Mac version, it came with all the other windows programs that work just fine) I have to use e-messenger instead (And it sucks)

if the official version doesn't work, chances are Adium won't work either.
Are you in some corporation, in school or other private network?
it's possible that your network operator blocks you.

It might also be connected to your firewall or router, though I don't think this will be the case.

Any luck connecting via "http"?

My uni internet used to block msn messenger and it worked for me using it connecting via "http".

And ur right, its isnt the firewall thats causing my problems, thats for sure, so Ive no idea what to do

I dont wanna be stuck with e-messenger just cus my parents decided to get a Mac! (I would love this computer if I coould actually use it)
