Unable to change font

I can change the color by following the instructions, but I can't change the font. It always come out the same.

Is there a way to change a messagestyle's color preference? How would one go about doing this?

it should be under prefrences-Messages and there is a button to set the font and size, also undeneath it you could change the font color and background color. If you just want the font a certain color for one conversation just hit the cicle icon with the array of color on it and choose your color.

is it not possible to have the time and username as one font, and my actual message as another?

See in the Wikipedia, it said to open a window, use Format > Show Font and then change it there to whatever you want, type a message and then hit enter and close window but when I do that I can change the color but not the font or the font size which is what i want to do.

I have been having troubles with the font also.

Sometimes it just changes back to the default font in the middle of a conversation....
