Encryption?

I have read that the current status with regards to encryption is 'not at this time'.
It is true that there are currently many different ways of achieving this goal and that different IM clients and services use a different approach. Though how reasonable would it be to make it so third parties could plug in encryption solutions to Adium?

Adium currently supports OTR (Off The Record) encryption.
Am I wrong?
EDIT: Here's the wiki link:

Looks like I got my information wrong.
Are there any plans to support other encryption systems, such as GPG, eitehr directly or via plugins.

Adium has allowed and had plugins since the dinosaurs or Jesus or something.

I wasn't too sure whether the current plug-in architecture could provide the necessary hooks for encryption solutions.
Actually, has anyone written any plug-ins of Adium? On the Xtras page I a lot of UI tweaks, but no 'plug-ins' that provide extra functionallity.

Gizmo (currently disabled) and
Myko Games are both plugins, but both are kind of b0rked right now. I DID write a plugin for Myko though

With minimal changes to the current filters set up, I suspect an incoming/outgoing filter pair could provide encryption.
