Rate Limiting Error (Again?)

I came back from sleeping (me not the computer) and my buddylist was gone. It said I was still online and I saw the away message window but no buddylist. I restarted Adium and when it signed on it gave me the rate limit error message and none of my buddy's away messages are showing up in the tool tips (not sure what they call them in the mac world). Actually as I look a few of them are showing up.

Ditto on that. Can we find out what AOL's deal is? It seems to be a problem on their end...
Anyone?
Thanks,
-Dave.

Yeah I still get a lot of rate limiting errors, too... also buddies' away messages don't update in tooltips... or just say "Away"
*Bahh! on AOL/AIM*

Haha that's funny. I always stay current w/ the SVN build, but I don't drop by the forums too often. Figured I would to see if anyone else was having the rate limiting issue. Looks like it...

Same problem...also, some of the away messages are not changing unless I manually get info on the buddy. (My own away message never changed in the tooltip today, even though I'd changed it three times.) My boyfriend said Trillian is having similar issues (with away messages not showing up in tooltips), although I don't know if it's as bad...?

same is happening for me here and it is driving me nuts! Is it an issue with the GAIM protocol, it is happening in iChat (AIM) as well, I guess not much can be done.... maybe slow the rate for requests so the AIM server can handle it more appropriately?

Whatever the problem is - it is clearly related to AOL. Can any of the developers investigate this and find out what we can do? It is SO annoying!
Thanks,
-Dave.

i was about to start my own thread, didnt see this, and searched trac for it... whew i woulda been bashed!
but yea im gettin same thing, rate limit error, was away for a good 5 hours with an away msg up and came back to being signed off and about 10 rate limit errors!
anyone know exactly when this was happening before(version or date)? because i never experienced it with adium... hence i thought this was something "new" and "special"

Is it confirmed that the Away message bug is a direct result of the rate limiting error? Both issues showed up at the same time in Version .85 for me.
I usually leave AIM on all night and wake up in the morning to the "Rate limiting Error" message. I also noticed that away messages didn't show up in the message window or when hovering over the name unless i did a "Get Info" on the person. Then, the same away message would stay even when my friend changed their away message until I did another "Get Info".
It's pretty annoying because I usually quickly check away messages by hovering the cursor over people's names in the buddy list but now they are all inaccurate.

The gaim developers have written a workaround to the problem, which we should be able to apply to Adium in the near future.

I have talked to a bunch of my friends who also use adium and they are all having the same problem, of being signed off and not being able to get up to date away messages. It is annoying to be signed off in the middle of the night, when you are waiting for a message from someone in a time zone 13 hours behind you. I never had these problems in version 84.

Yes, AOL changed their server settings at about the same time that 0.85 was released. 0.85.1 should work around the problem.

Wait -- is there a 0.85.1, or is it still in development? People are speaking as though it's already been released, but I can't find it.

As the version number indicates, it's probably just a little tweak (Primarily to fix this very problem maybe?), so it's as good as released, even if it isn't specifically available this very very moment.

Hopefully this is coming out soon, as .85 just isn't cutting it.

I've been working on getting the updated libgaim to compile properly, but it's being frustrating. Once I get that working I'll post a test build in ticket 1780.
