Away messages in Contact list problem

My buddies away messages that show up in the contact list appear to cache, as in it displays an old away message instead of a new one until I IM the person or get info on them.
How can i fix this?

Same here. It basically makes the away message tool-tips useless

I think this has more to do with the recent rate limiting problems everyone is experiencing. Check out this trac ticket:

If that's your issue, a fix is in the works.
