I know what you are thinking "oh no, not another of those webcam threads" But please read :D

I just ctrl-clicked a yahoo user who has activated his webcam. I was surprised to see "View xyz's webcam" in the contextmenu. I clicked it and got the following error:

"Codec not suported
The JPEG-2000 Code Stream Syntax codec plugin isn't installed or loaded. Please install and load (in Preferences->Plugins) the one, such as the j2k plugin."

As I weren't able to find the Plugins pane in the Preferences I searched the forum and found out that webcam actually isn't supported.

So now my question is that option visibile and why does it show that error msg? Wouldn't it be better to hide that option to the user until it is supported as it is quite confusing right now?

Seems as if some of it slipped past the devs. They tried to disable all of those; expect it to disappear.

The message you got was from Gaim 2.0.0, which has a bunch of preliminary vv (voice and video) stuff in it.

Yea, we actually have old gaim-vv bits in libgaim source at present... sloppy, I know :P
