Message Colors and Fonts

This may be a stupid question, but one feature I like about old school AOL Instant Messenger (official client) is when you change your font type and colors and whatnot, the person you're talking to can see the changes.

Where as what I've noticed with most other AIM clients (non-official), this isnt the case. The other person will see a default 12 font with black coloring.

Is this also true with Adium?

Are you changing your font in the Messages preferences, or when you are in the IM window talking to someone? Changing the font in the messages prefs will only change the way the font is Displayed not what it's actually sending

You can change your font from the message window by typing: Command-T

This opens the OS X font panel, where you can choose your font.

Exactly, Im talking about the text being sent (the font/color the person Im talking to sees). How is it possible for one to change that?

If you do that from the message window, it will change the font being sent :)

Hmm, I have been trying what you said, however I notice the font seems to go back to "Helvetica 12" every time I send a message

Okay, What version of Adium are you using?

and in the message prefs, do you have the "Show Recieved Fonts" and Show Recieved Colors" options checked?

How I usually do it is type it out in Helvetica, select the entire message, change to the wanted font, then put the pointer back at the end of the message, selecting a background color, then trying to submit. Not sure why this works, but sometimes it "un-sticks" my font when it sticks. The other option is to manually set it up. But that will require a discussion and using text editors to play with "DefaultFormatting.plist" (Not the most fun you could have)

hm I will try this. But just out of curiosity, is this something that can be addressed in a future release of Adium?
