My Avatar and Cache folder...

Heya kids,

Is it a good idea to go trashing stuff in the ~/Library/Caches/Adium folder? I have myself on my MSN contact list but my avatar image does not reflect the current avatar I know is being used. So in search of a solution to my problem, I went looking for things to delete :-)

Now I think I've made things worse. In the ~/Library/Caches/Adium/Default folder I've gone and trashed each of my account files (ie:MSN.<email address>, AIM.<uid>, etc) but now I have no avatar! *sigh* I guess that will teach me to go deleting stuff...

So in summary:
1) Is it a bug with Adium or gaim that is preventing my current avatar from being used in the contact list?
2) Should people go deleting stuff in the Cache folder?

No harm in deleting the cache folder.

No idea about MSN avatars

I know that MSN doesn't actually send anything about you to yourself, generally, so it's probably a gaim bug.

Ok, the problem's back again.

Does anyone else have this the problem of their avatars/display pictures not updating on their own contact list once they change it? If so, do you have the address book preference "Overwrite Address Book images with contacts' icons"? Because I think the Address Book integration is causing my avatar not to show correctly when I have myself on my contact list.

Is the class that handles writing AIListContact display pictures to the address book (presumably ESAddressBookIntegrationPlugin) receiving notifications of the user's icon being changed? *scratches head*

Some background information, incase this helps at all. My entry on the contact list is of kind AIMetaContact. The picture of myself in Address Book was not being used by Adium by any account. While my entry on the contact list is a meta contact, I am only connected to one account.

Any ideas?
