jabber: Server commands

Hi,

while chatting on a jabber server, i tested a few commands, like /clear, /config, /subject <subject>, /invite <jid>, /block <nick>, etc.

None of these commands worked, although the server does support them. But /join <room> did work.

Could anybody explain me, why?

Thanks

Ralf

Do these work with other Jabber clients on the same server?

Would I ask if they didn't? ;) Yes, they do. Some Jabber Clients have buttons i.e. for "subjecting" a groupchat-room and some are able to control the server by typed commands. I got the list of comment from the Admin of the Server.

Just curious as to whether this a libgaim related limitation or more specific to Adium?

I would be pleased if you increase the jabber support. ;) And I know some users of the same server/community who would be as well.

We support all / commands libgaim does, so it's a libgaim problem if they don't work. I'm unclear as to whether these are actually client-implemented commands or serverside commands... if they're serverside, shouldn't we be able to just send them as plaintext and have them work?

gaim is very limited in terms of jabber, hopefully that will change with 2.0 and up.
