Change of email for MSN won't bring in contacts

Post by Real_Me »

Hmm, something I should of left alone, but oh well surely there is a way to remedy this

I went into my profile page on MSN.com (that's the first mistake). During a bit of exploring I seen I could change my email address. And I did as it said

"if you are using messenger then your contact list wil be automatically transfered over".

Great.....

My contact list is there, but they are all offline in my new log in details. I opened MacMessenger3, all offline there as well. So I went back to MSN.com and changed it back to my previous log in details to see online friends. But, because my original MSN email details I can't receive the email to verify my changes because that email is closed. And it was an ISP account not a hotmail account so I can't open the same there. Adium keeps popping up a message unverified account quite often.

I then changed to my new log in details thinking maybe it may take a bit of time to transfer my contacts to the new details, so I left it overnight and slept with my fingers crossed. But still not happening.

Wouldn't it be, that if they weren't transfered I wouldn't see my contact list at all? Because the old account isn't logging on to retrieve them, so it's obvious the new account is retrieving them but not showing online details?

But hmm, a thought from my question just then, would my contacts need to add me again for me to see them? :?

Any thoughts or suggestion would be great

TIA

Add: Just confirmed, I'm offline to my friends too

I remedied that by turning iTunes support off

But what i done now is gone back to my original account with it being unverified, it is seen by others, but hopefully this will solve it by...

Back in the MSN.com account page, I found add additional email, so I did. Then from that I found send problems to MSN, so I did, I had the option of putting in either email address to reply to. So I asked for a verify email sent to my secondary email address with an explanation of waht happened, not mentioning I'm a Mac user of course :D .

Been about 6 houurs now, probably take MSN weeks to reply, but I'll just hang in there :)

Moral is, not advisable to change your account details unless you still have the original email account

Ok, so get a reply 24 hours, Hi my name is blah blah, can understand you want to verify your account for such n such an address through the other address, please reply to this with our service number, there was no reply address because Mail didn't think I put one in and didn't know where to send it to.

So I went back to the msn.com page and sent a fault form to them with the service number and which address i wanted to verify

Five hours later an email, hi I'm so n so (different name from first email) you have now been verfied blah blah

Isn't it good to solve your own problems on a forum LOL

Now the Moral is don't try to fix something that isn't broken :))
