Group Offline Contacts

Post by mbrown3 »

In the new version, I can't seem to figure out how to group offline contacts in one location. Also, it would be nice to have the groups that have online contacts auto-expand so that the online folks are always visible (within their group headings). Are either of these possible within the new version? If so, I can't seem to find the setting(s) for them. Thanks...

I'm preety sure thaty you can group offline contacts I just don't remember how. Again I'm at a school computer so I can't check Adium right now. Also what do you mean by auto expand? If you have a group of contacts and no one is on it wont show any names (unless your showing the offline contacts) If you don't show the offline contacts it does it automatically. Why do you want to see the offline contacts so much? Just curious. For Grouping offline contacts (I'm doing this by guessing and memory) go into contacts up top or something like it and there should be an option about offline contacts.

I don't want to see the offline contacts, I want to see the online ones. Currently I get the whole list of groups, all closed, even if they have online contacts in them (also the offline contacts), and I have to manually expand each group if I want to see who is online. What I want is for any group that has an online contact to open so that the online folks are always showing. There used to be an option in preferences, contacts, for "group offline contacts" or something, but I can't seem to find it now.

Well you could always just hide the offline contacts. Thats what I do. Just go under contacts up in the top menu somewhere and youll find it.

Perhaps
View->Show Offline Contacts
and/or
View->Sort Contacts by Status

provide the functionality you want.

I'm not getting any of these options. In fact, I just looked at my other Mac (this one is my PowerBook) which also has the newer version, and all these options are present on there, but not on here! Anyone seen this? I'm going to try to reinstall and see if that helps...

Yep, that did it. The new install works perfectly now. I must have had a corrupted installation. I'm trying to remember if I even got to the point of chatting with someone with the laptop, because maybe even that was not functioning properly. Anyway, I'm all set now. Thanks!
