New to Adium, 3 bugs: blocking, metacontacts, auto-away

First of all I would like to let you know I have searched extensively in these forums since my registration was "stuck" for a while, so I apologize if anything I post here has been covered already. Also sorry if these should have been three separate threads, I will delete and re-enter as such if needed.
I am a refugee from Proteus and so far find Adium to be more customizable and more stable than that program. I enjoy it a lot and have a feeling I will be sticking with it, but I am having a few problems so far.
1. I saw that blocking users is a feature yet to come. That's fine. However, in the threads I read about it, it says that Adium will respect the settings from the official clients. However, I have been getting random (and shall we say REALLY unwanted) messages from Yahoo users even though I have specified in the official client to ignore anyone not on my buddy list.
2. I have a strange metacontact problem. With all my other metacontacts, I am easily able to choose which account (and thus which service) I want to IM them from. If I choose their Yahoo account in the pull-down menu, my account switches to Yahoo. Same with AIM. All good.
However, I have ONE metacontact where this doesn't work. If I choose his Yahoo account, my account switches to Yahoo, but in his drop-down menu it hasn't really switched to Yahoo but stayed on AIM. If I choose AIM, then MY account switches to Yahoo. I have tried deleting him from my contact list, deleting him from the official clients, deleting the prefs...no good. This is the ONLY contact where it doesn't work and unfortunately he's kind of an important one.
I know the inelegant solution is to just keep him as two separate contacts but I would really like to know what's going on and if there's any way to fix it.
3. I found a message while searching and now cannot find it again, but someone was mentioning that if the "idle after..." box goes unchecked, the auto-away does not come on. I am having the same problem. In fact even if both are checked, I WILL go idle but the auto-away never goes on.
Thanks, Adium is a great product and I expect to stick with it even with the minor annoyances that come with any prerelease program.
