Hi all,
I'm new to Adium and I love but two things would make it awesome.
1. ichat style received message transparent window overlay that doesn't knock you out of the program you are working in etc...
2. Different away messages for each sn logged in. Or at least one main sn with a different away message that you could somehow select a main sn.

1) Growl. Will be default in .8 which will be released sometime in the future. Currently you can enable Growl support manually or can use the Event Notification feature that is still in .74 IIRC

2) Highly requested, known, discussed, and listed in the sticky thread at top of forum. The gist of it - the status system needs to be rewritten and will be at some point. When this occurs features like what you request will likely be added.

I have installed Growl but must have not selected the coorect options to achieve the ichat style reply what do I need to do?

There's no exact "iChat-style" reply. Growl is functionally the same in that shows a notification/on-screen thingie that doesn't interrupt your workflow and allows you to click to view the chat.

There's a tutorial at Growl's site IIRC but basically you need to Get Info on Adium in the Finder, click on the section called "Plugins" and check the box next to Growl. Make sure to turn off Event Notifications in Preferences -> Advanced inside Adium if you had them on at any time. Then you can Growl events. This has recently been discussed so for further info I'd say a search for Growl and Adium would find other info.
