Has anyone got Gmail notifcation to work?

I set up a Google Talk account in Adium 0.86, with my Gmail email address as the username and Gmail password as the password.. Enabled "Display new mail notifcations" under options.. And set up a sound and bouncing icon for "New email notification" in events. The account does connect but I don't get any notification when I receive an email.

It doesn't seem to be working for me either.

I submitted a request to change that ticket from an enhancement to a bug, since the feature seems to be present in 0.86 ("Enable mail notifications" in the Gtalk account type) but I guess it doesn't work.

The bug is that the option is incorrectly presented when no such feature exists in Gaim's Jabber implementation. A Gaim patch implementing whatever is being used for gtalk email checking is of course welcomed.
