hi. how do i change my privacy settings so that people who aren't my buddy list cannot see or im me?

also, has anyone else had trouble with "speak text" as an alert? (vicki sounds more like a victor on drugs sometimes)

Hello. What protocol are you referring to? As far as I know, most of the protocols do not support that sort of privacy setting, except for MSN which requires authorization when someone adds you to their buddy list. I could be wrong, though.

I believe you can do it with AIM, I think there is a option for that in iChat.

Yes, if you Apply that setting in iChat, Adium will respect and use it

for aim, i have a setting that prohibits anyone who's not on my buddy list from seeing me. i'm not sure if that carries over to adium.

for msn, it usually does ask me permission before someone can add and view me. however, today (my second day using adium), someone i did nOt want to talk to messaged me on msn out of the blue.

so i figured out that the aim privacy blocking setting carries over to adium. (yay).
but what about msn? is there any way i can change it so that someone has to ask permission before being allowed to view me?
