Blocking Users

I don't think the blocking funktion works properly with my icq account within adium.
Or is there another way to be viewed as Offline in another persons kontakt list if i don't want that perso to know my online status?

What exactly do you mean "blocking doesn't work properly"? Can you provide more details? Is it just ICQ?
There is also the "invisible" options, which makes it so that nobody can see you online.

I think the issue is more of UNblocking.. blocking works fine for me under MSN. But to unblock i have to fall back to the official client.
With Adium, people i block, STAY blocked forever! muahaha

This is the first I've heard of blocking itself not working on All Protocols.
I have heard MSN unblock being broken, and I believe it is on trac somewhere. It's probably a libgaim bug(?).
There's a lot of new privacy stuff in 1.0, hopefully your problems will be fixed.

I use MSN only, pretty much (AOL and Bonjour occasionally). I have never had issues with blocking and unblocking contacts.
So I'm not sure if it's a Gaim issue...

Well if I block a user in AIM or ICQ my status in his buddy list doesn't change in any way, that person kann see me clear as daylight (doesn't matter if that person is logged on or not when I block him).
With my msn account it works properly, I can block and unblock users no problem.
There is also the "invisible" options, which makes it so that nobody can see you online.
Yeah but then nobody can see me...
Me too :-(

I am new to Adium and run 0.86 on Mac OS 10.4.3. All my buddies and I are using AIM. I can not block anyone on my contact list, they can still see me (and I see them).
Otherwise, I really like Adium :-)

i have been using adium for as long as i can remember and blocking has NEVER worked for me using an aim account. I still get msgs from people i have blocked, they can see my status, etc. i personally have not tried any of the other protocols - so i can't comment on them.
my situation is identical to what hans1000 has experienced.
I am using .86 and running osx 10.4.3 on a dual g5.

People reporting blocking 'never' working: Do you have only one AIM account or do you have multiple AIM accounts?

I only have one AIM and one ICQ Account (even though both are logged in and I know of other messanger clients which handle both protokolls (ie. iChat)).

i have one account on the following:
aim, icq, jabber, msn, gmail, yahoo
overall i have 8 people in my contact list, sorted into groups (yahoo, aim and a group that shows only my account, labeled OTHERS)
i get 10-20 authorization requests daily over the ICQ network and when i try to add a user i wish to block on ICQ, i do the following, i go to 'contact' and then to block list editor. i fill out the information and click done.
if i restart adium and check the block list editor, a few of the blocked icq numbers are still there (not all though) and my icq account has been replaced by my aim screen name for some reason.
also note that i do not have any ICQ contacts, either added by myself or by ICQ (when i block them). quite often i get the following error (picture is attatched) and its driving me insane.
this happens on the latest public version of adium and in 1.0svn
error says, "unable to add ******* for an unknown reason. the most common reason for this is that you have the maximum number allowed buddies in your buddy list."
also to prove my point on accounts, my account pic is shown also.
