Adium won't connect to AIM- Connecting Account Message

I converted a friend of mine to Adium this semester, and all has been fine up until the past few days. Upon trying to connect his account, he consistantly gets a "Connecting Account" message box. Within this box is his screenname and a box to input his password. When he puts in his correct password, AIM connects for a split second, then immediately disconnects him, and redisplays the "Connecting Account" message box. I had thought that this might have something to do with keychain access, so I deleted his AIM keychains, in hopes that it would correct the problem, but it didn't. Just for a fyi, the official AIM client works as it should with his account. But with the same password in Adium, it goes through an endless loop of the "Connecting Account" prompt. I hope my description of the problem was clear enough, and I await your helpful responses!

Did you report this issue on trac? I remember your name, I think from trac. My advice to him would be to try using another SN, and see if the same thing happens.

heres the story... <a href="

basically, AOL decided to spam everyone this week with two 'bots'... and intrude on our privace. needless to say, it caused my adium to stop working entirely. renaming the preferences folder located in "home>library>application support" folder from "adium 2.0" to "adium 2.0-old", then, redownload and reinstalll adium. at that point, you have to go back and delete the new "adium 2.0" folder and rename the "adium 2.0-old" back to "adium 2.0" (in order to restore your friends lists, etc.
THANKS AOL!!! for making our lives difficult!!

Here's the Trac ticket as requested:
http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/2238
Thank you all for your help in trying to tackle this problem my friend is having!
PS- Not sure I handled the Severity/ Priority columns like I should have, feel free to change them if so.

Just to end this thread, I discovered what the problem was. My friend had changed his password. Yep, the PASSWORD.

There was no technical explanation for this, just that he forgot he changed it. Inputting the proper password made Adium connect (obviously), lol. Sorry for wasting y'alls time. If it was my Adium I would've known what passwords I use and what ones I changed. Now to see about closing the accompanying trac ticket...
EDIT... I don't know how to close the ticket, or better yet, remove it. Can someone do this for me? Thanks!
