I am having a heck of a time trying to change my buddies icons to custom photos I have. I have gone into advances address book prefs and set "Use address book pic as buddy icon and override users icon with address books. I have set up tons of buddies in my address book. The pic changes fine but only stays on for about 5-8 messeges. Than it reverts to thier old one.

Am I missing a step?

i hope you didnt make up new address book contacts just so you could set a users icon, because you can do that just by right clicking(control clicking) a person on your contact list, going to get info and then doubling clicking the icon in the top left. but as far as i know once you set a custom icon for someone else you see which icons they set, only the ones you set

I believe you're describing a bug which has been reported previously and should be fixed either for the next version or for Adium 1.0.

Right. If you set a custom icon for someone who is not in your AB, it will revert after a little bit. It's just fine for people who ARE in the AB.

This problem is particularly happening with people on my book. I am an iChat switcher, and everyime you custom change someones account in iChat (like custom name or picture) it generate an AB contact for it. So all of my buddies are in my AB with custom icons. However, adium doesn't use the pics I set up.

Right now for example, I am looking at my AB contact, who has my custom pic and custom name on my AB, but in adium, only the custom name appears, the picture is some stupid AIM garbage.

Check your Adium Address Book preferences (Prefs->Advanced->Address Book). The default is for serverside icons to override address book ones.

Use address book images as contacts icons is checked
as is Even if the contact already has a contact icon.

The third option "Overwrite address book images with cantacts icons" is not.

I have a question:
I want to get rid of a contact's custom MSN picture, so I can see their updating ones. Is this possible?

I've tried finding the pic temp file and deleting it, but it just recreates after i restart adium again.
