Unable to send URL links to MSN Users

I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this problem that I am experiencing?

When I try to send a URL to a MSN User they don't receive it.

The link I am sending is this one

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro ... 9&id=11281

I copied it from the Address Bar in Safari (2.0.2) and pasted it to the message bar in Adium X (0.86 - Thursday 27th October) and pressed Return.

The recipient receives nothing.

I tried the Send Link command, but again they received nothing.

I can type a URL, such as http://www.screwfix.com or http://www.screwfix.com and the recipient receives the URL as text.

I can send the links to myself as a contact without problem!

I am running OS X 10.4.3 and I did have the %_nowplaying script from the Adium Xtras page installed, but this is now uninstalled and the problem is still evident.

I hope I've covered everything off. Cheers!

Looks like it might have just been the links to Screwfix!

Can anybody else confirm this please?

Try typing that link instead of copy and pasting it and see if it works. It might be a copy-paste problem with AdiumX. I've gotten copy and paste problems before, but that was from VPC (Virtual PC) to AdiumX although VPC to TextEdit to AdiumX worked.

the problem you are experiencing is almost certainly due to a script you have installed that uses the '/scriptname' to be called interfering with sending the link.

as a test, move all your user installed scripts from ~/username/library/application support/adium 2.0/scripts/ to the desktop, then restart adium and try sending the script again.

There are scripts that use:

/app
/cat
/sfd
/pro.jsp...

:?:

And both posters have the same script(s) installed?

An aMSN developer on Adium forum, what's going on :P

Yeah well MSN networks censors some kinds of keywords

Apart from that, we have noticed that some words are censored in the Messenger network. For example, it looks like you can't send messages containing the words: download.php. Just try it! The conversation will be instantly closed. In the original Messenger, the message containing those words will silently dissapear for ever. In AMSN you'll get a delivery error after a minute. I think this a completely ridiculous, a strike agains free expression in the Internet. What do you think about this? Have you discovered more censored words? Can you tell us?

As I mentioned I did have the %_nowplaying script installed but that was removed. If there are any other scripts then they must have been insalled as I installed Adium.

I had tried typing the links, starting with the basic link to the site, but that failed as well!

I have been able to send other links such as this one...

http://earth.google.com/faq.html#1

...and that worked fine.

I guess there is just something about Screwfix, but I would appreicate if somebody could try to send it to one of their Contacts just to confirm.

By the way, I would like to add that being relatively new tho the Mac scene, what a refreshing and forward thinking application Adium X is. I thought using MSN through Jabber in iChat was good! This beats the pants of that by miles!

Thanks all!
