Hi,

I was wondering if there is an easy way to (temporarily) hide emoticons in incoming messages.

This would be very useful as I sometimes exchange code or other data through Adium that gets unreadable because there are emoticons everywhere.

I looked through the app and the forums but did not find anything. When I looked through Trac I saw reference to a Text Only Mode but could find no other information about it.

Any idea's? Otherwise I think this could be a useful feature in the future. Maybe as a button in the message window.

It doesn't address all incoming messages but handy tip:

click on an emoticon's image and it will toggle back to the text

You mean in the incoming text? Would be really handy, but does not seem to work for me (Adium 0.87b5).

EDIT: Figured it out. I was using the Renkoo message style and it does not work in there. Works in Plastic though. Thanks!

You can also go into the Appearances Preferences, and where you pick your emoticon set, you can select "None". That should disable all smileys

Thanks, but I was looking for a way to change it for a particular message.
I like smileys most of the time
