And remove 99% of the garbage code... it just takes forever to load and wastes space.

Get Info on Adium.app, expand the plugins menu thing, click '+', select the Window Effects.AdiumPlugin icon and click open I think it is.
Restart Adium!
And you'll see it!

Please do NOT use this method to install a new plugin. Just double-click the plugin and Adium will copy it to the right place -- which is in ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Plugins/
That way, the plugin stays put through Adium upgrades, and it's MUCH easier to find out the source of problems with custom plugins.

i noticed it only animates on close when you command+w not when you close it via the close box. Do you invoke that function via a hotkey? or is it in the windows delegate?

It overrides the AIMessageWindowController's closeWindow: message so it is kind of the window's delegate...

Give us details:
What Version of Adium and Mac OS?
Try leaving it without force quitting, and send the developers a crash report when it crashes

i updated the plugin and now it gives you the options to animate until the message is read (like the dock icon) and to animate only when adium is in the background.
download the updated plugin
here
also the source is now
available
