Manipulate Contact List Position with Applescript?

Post by ncsu_mich »

I haven't ever done that much work with Applescript, but I have something I would really like to be able to do for Adium...

What I have is a borderless window that is docked to the left side of the screen. I'd like for it to be centered vertically on the screen by an always-on applescript that just adjusts the window position every minute or so.

All I need to know is how to check the height of the contact list window, and how to send a command to change the position of the window.

Thanks.

There is no AppleScript way to do either of them, sorry. On the other hand, you could diable the “Size to fit vertically” feature and center it manually.

Are you sure there's no way to do so? I'm pretty sure all the standard applescript window maniuplation commands should work fine.
The duck still burns.

I don’t think there are moving commands… unless I am mistaken. Won’t be the first time ;)

There are. Here's a script I recall using a while back from Apple's demo applescripts which moves and resizes Finder windows to tile them on the screen... here's a page with that script and others: http://www.apple.com/applescript/toolbar/
