Gaim Error for days?

Hi!
This is not as much a Adium-question as it is a general MSN question - but as I don't know where else to ask, and Adium is my favourite client - here goes:
for the past week or so, adium, or any other client (microsoft included) wont connect to my messenger acount. Now, it works fine when i log on using microsofts webinterface, but whenever i try adium, proteus or microsofts own client, it seems it isn't even trying to connect. It just hangs a bit and then gives me the gaim-error in the case of adium, or a "service unavailable at the moment"-kind of message in the case of microsoft messenger.
In the house I live in, all the apartments share a broadband connection, so I haven't really got any chance of messing with routing - but my question is, if a change in those settings could be the reason for my troubles? My roommate haven't got any problems, but he's on microsoft messenger for windows. Any help is appreciated!
