Yahoo! Keepalive?

If I haven't msg'ed one of my Yahoo! contacts for a while, sometimes if I send them a PM (I experience this more with fairly lengthy ones), my Yahoo! contact list disconnects and re-loads and I have to re-send my message.
Is there some sort of Yahoo! keep-alive to ping the messenger servers?
It's not so much annoying that I have to re-send the message as it is that my list might have timed out or whatever and I'm not receiving other peoples PMs.
Didn't know if this is a GAIM issue out of your control or not.
