That's not what's being suggested.

The suggestion is to create a specific duck that looks like AIM's walking dude, MSN's "penguin on crack", etc. The point isn't to dynamically match the currently set Dock icon.
Wait, the EMD's AI isn't going to draw for us?
The duck still burns.

Ah, ok.

Got it.
Thats a good Idea actually.

But it wouldnt matter anyway since 0.8 will include a way to customize service icons.

Great I love this idea!!!

About the official release icon with this version is a very important one.
The person that will make the images, has a lot on his back in a way that
Those service icons will decide how perfect the default service icons will be.

I wish I can put my idea on it. Making the service icons.
Let me give you guys a example.
Trillian service icons. They are simple, That for me I need to change them. They are just circle with colors. That is very boring for me as a default service icons.
You guys have a great offical DUCK!! I love that idea. Go with that...

just my 2 cent toughts. For anything pls contact me :D

thanks

Service icons and status icons are two different things. In the development version, they're used side by side to indicate the status of accounts in the EMD and the regular menu. So no, they wouldn't have different states since that's handled by status icons (unless the devs change things dramatically).

I'd actually done somehing similar beforehand and used the image found here.

to replace the msn icon and Trillian's jabber icon:

similar to that but it's pinkish. That particular msn icon might not be coprighted, though I'm only guessing.

Ah, I see. I was confused as to what you were saying. I kind of doubt that the service icons will become status icons as well, but I guess it could happen. This is where one of the devs needs to jump in and say yes, no, or maybe... ;)

It would seem to me you are requesting we exactly copy Proteus' look.
Try my software!

#define ADIUMX pimp //by me
#define QUESTION ((2b) || (!2b))
Have you hugged a programmer today?

Request:
Uncertain if this conflicts with copyrights and trademarks, anyway...

Is it possible to make the status-icons to be the orginal app's icons. E.g if I have a couple of ICQ users, the I would like to have the flower to the far left, and when someone is idling it changes to the flower with the blank note on it. Same for MSN etc.

Instead of the iChat light bulbs.

Can I do this myself by hacking resources?

This is what I would like it to look like:

The Idle image resides in /Applications/Adium.app/Contents/Resources/Status Icons/Gems.AdiumStatusIcons/Idle.png

Something like that anyways

Ok, I think I know what has to be done...

If Adium has different folder for status icons for the different IM clients it's no problem at all to do what I want (see post above). Then you just have to replace the icons with original IM client's icon, keeping the same filename.

Where can one find differents IM clients icons in PNG format? Can't find ICQ's and MSN's inside their packages...

Another thing, Away/Idle seems to be different for MSN and ICQ...? ICQ's "Not Available" doesn't seem to have an equivalent, or?

Unfortunately for what you want to do, Adium's status icons don't work that way. There's only a single set for all types of accounts. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :(

ICQ's "not available" can be compared to "away"
