Applescript: Send Message To Specific User...

I have a few different Applescripts I have run when certain emails come in and I would like to have one that sends an IM to me from this computer to my other when an email is received. The mail part isn't the issue (setting up a rule)... the problem is telling Adium to send a message to a particular user... I've tried to the following with no luck:

tell application "Adium"
activate
send "username_here" message "dfds"
end tell


Ideally I'd like it to be able to be done in the background (not requiring the activate). Right now it is there as I also tried:

tell application "Adium"
activate
      send (active chat of the first interface controller) message "blah"
end tell

Which does work, but not without the activate.

Any ideas... is this even doable with the current Applescript support?
