Contacts Icons + No Apple Addressbook

Postby Alina » Mon Dec 06, 2004 5:58 pm

Hi all, I've been using Adium for a while but this is my first contribution to the forum.

I understand that if one wants to keep the icons defined for contacts in Adium from changing into the icons users have defined for themselves in their IM app or service, one has to put those icons in Apple's adressbook. That is one app I don't use, in fact it's not even installed in my system, like may other Apple defaults (don't ask, it's a self-made OS X configuration).

My question then, would be if there is any chance of Adium handling user icons/avatars independently of Apple's addressbook but still overriding the icons that users define in their IM app/service?

Thanks.

Get Info on a contact (Contact menu or contextual menu).

Options:
1) Double click on the icon. Select another one.
2) Drag an image on top of the icon.
3) Paste an image from the clipboard while the icon is selected.

Um... Thanks. But I've just tried it with a friend and as soon they change the icon in MSN on their app, it changes the icon in Adium as well... I don't feel like changing back everyone's icons to the ones I want everytime they change theirs... I guess it can't be done without the Adressbook?

That's a bug, then; the intended functionality is exactly what you'd expect, that your preference would remain. We'll look into it :)
