Games in 1.0

in light of many many IM clients shipping with built-in games, and in light of the fact that Adium already has them (Myko games), it would make much more sence bundeling the games into 1.0, than me asking all my Adium using friends to download them.

In my opinion, games have nothing to do with instant messaging and should continue to be offered separately.

Myko stalled out in the early 0.8x days, and may or may not work with 1.0. There are very tentative plans to rewrite it, but it won't happen before a stable plugin API exists.

IMGames are fun in general.

I agree, top grade time wasters.

Personally I used to be addicted to Minesweeper Flags (even played in a league). But now that I can't play it on my Mac, I just pretend to hate games in general.

Luckily my obsession was always Nibbles. Which became Snake. Which is now Swear.

so, back on topic, I suggest that 1.0 ships with built in games, and, eventually, in Adium 457.324.3, when every other possibly imaginable goal is reached, make it compatible with major IM clients' games.

You're more then welcome to write a ChatKit Functionality Protocolâ„¢ for it and begin implementing it :-P
If you do, it'll be available when Adium will adopt ChatKit in v1.5 or v2.

when you say v1.5 or v2, you're just throwing numbers, right?

Nope. I just don't remember what version we wanted to be the first to use ChatKit :-P
Of course it also depends on the speed ChatKit will evolve, but that's the general idea...

anyway, when my coding is good enough, if i remember, I will give games in ChatKit a try, would be a cool addition, and if all goes well and lots of clients adopt ChatKit, it would make IM gaming on the mac pretty cool (you know, with cross application support n' stuff, and every app could supply it's own UI for the games). so, until that point when I can do it, can a ChatKit dev write it down somewhere as a low-priority To-Do for the future?

Done.
