Suppress buddy status change messages?

Post by bluenote »

Hi all, time for a Really Dumb Question...

My work group uses IM as a primary communication tool, and it's not uncommon for us to leave chat windows open all day. The problem is that over time messages like this accumulate in the chat window:

Bob went idle
Bob became active
Bob went idle
Bob became active
Bob went idle
Bob became active

...well you get the idea. Short of the obvious solution of "just close your chat windows once in a while, idiot," is there a way to suppress these status change messages while preserving actual chat contents? The buddy list can serve as a means to determine who is in what status.

Is there a preference for this? Is it up to the individual message view? I'm pretty sure I'm just missing something obvious; if not, maybe I'll roll up my sleeves in Xcode... :wink:

Thanks, all!

No, there is no pref. I suppose a message style could hide them, but I don't know of any that do. This may happen in some future release though, whenever we get around to the Legendary Status System Rewrite (tm).

Which means that you can close conversations other than the one you are in... (yah, needs to be reworded, is/was on my list, fixing now ;))
Try my software!

#define ADIUMX pimp //by me
#define QUESTION ((2b) || (!2b))
Have you hugged a programmer today?
