Keep new messages surpressed until focused?

When i get a new message, the dock icon flashes the name while the message window appears (in the background). What I want is to have the dock icon still flash, but not to show the message window until I click on the dock icon. How can I get it to do this?

Right now, I don't believe there is a way to do what you are asking without turning on the preference to always hide the message window when it's in the background, which you already expressed a displeasure for in another thread.

Maybe you could make a script that hides adium when you get a message?
