Log viewer

Post by afif »

hello,

I will try to be clear in my question, not very easy when you're not native english speaking person. I'm using a public computer, I've to give a password each time I connect so it's not a problem. The problem is that the log viewer is not protected by anything. So, I have to erase the log viewer each time I disconnect. Is there a way to avoid this or to change the bar menu and delete the option "log viewer". Hope I'm clear.

Thx a lot.

You can set Adium so that it doesn't log your messages. In the Preferences (Adium menu --> Preferences...) go to the Messages pane, then near the bottom there is an option for logging your messages. Click it so that the blue checkmark is gone.

As far as I know, Adium doesn't log by default.

Should this be how we do it? Or should we provide an option at first run for that?

I warrant that the vast majority of users like this defaulting to yes. I think that first run options should only be presented in cases where a reasonable, nearly proportional split between possible choices exists.

How often do users really use Adium in a 'kiosk' type mode? Not enough to warrant turning it off by default I'd wager.
Try my software!

I believe that most users really do want logs by default -- home users at least. For the minority that don't, they can turn it off AND delete logs from right in the viewer! :)
