unable to sign into MSN

Post by victorianrum »

hey guys, i don't know where i should post this.. but it's irritating me to bits. I haven't been able to sign onto MSN today and Adium keeps crashing everytime it fails to sign me in.
Is there a problem with MSN? or is it Adium?
help.. someone!

- Deleting the blist.xml had no effect.
- Haven't tried downgrading, but the crash definitely only started fairly recently so I'm sure one of them will get rid of it. If it will help you track the problem let me know and I'll narrow it down.
Got another discovery: when running the Windows Sametime client, there was a group called Adium Orphans (with some junk characters). I moved the contacts out of that group into the correct groups and deleted the group, and then I couldn't reproduce the crash: could quit and launch and log back into Sametime any number of times.

But, then I did the following:
1. Quit Adium
2. Disconnect VPN (so can't see the Sametime server)
3. Launch Adium
4. Services log in, get error from Sametime
5. Connect VPN
6. Adium automatically attempts to log in to Sametime
7. Crash

I just submitted this crash through the crash reporter with my AIM ID (heath3115).

After all this I went back to the Windows Sametime client, but the Adium Orphans group has not reappeared, so it may not be relevant after all.

Fascinating. That sounds -dead on- -- the crash is definitely while hitting something which is unexpectedly invalid, while parsing the stored buddy list. If it happens again, could you email me your blist.xml file? (evan@adiumx.com). Thanks :)
The duck still burns.
