hello,
i've just downloaded adium x and am loving it! just having some questions as i'm getting used to this program (i changed over from MSN):
1) how do you get the contact list to display contacts' status more clearly? the only option i know of are as "gems" or as "bubbles" both of which i don't find effective. is there anyway to get contacts to show up as they do on msn? (ie. "away", "busy", "on the phone"...)
2) how do you change your display name?
3) is there any way of chatting while "invisible"?

Try changing the options of your list layout to include away messages under the names, but I'm not sure about all of the features of MSN and if this will really help. You can download more status icons from http://www.adiumxtras.comlululemon wrote:hello,

Again, if this is an MSN only feature, I don't know. but you should be able to open your accounts preferences and double click on your name, under personal, you can change your Alias. This might be local only, though.2) how do you change your display name?
Under satus, choose custom. From the dropdown there is "away", "availuable", and "invisible." Choose Invisible.3) is there any way of chatting while "invisible"?

1) go to preferences -> Appearance -> Customise list layout. then tick the box "show status"
This will show the status in the contact list, BUT available and away status's are not shown. ie. only ones such as be right back, on the phone etc are shown. (if i didnt explain that clear enough just say and ill try again:))
2) What LuxuryChair said (thats how it works for msn)
3) There is a bug/feature where you can chat while invisible in adium for msn. Just do this:
- while available open a chat with someone and say anything you want
- then go invisible
- you should now be able to chat with this person even though you are offline.
NOTE: if the conversation is idle for 2 minutes, or either of you close the chat window then you will no longer be able to talk with the person.
(again if you want a better explanation just ask)
