First line of text cut off

Hey team.
I have noticed that woth some styles, the first line of text gets cut off. This happens with quite a few of my message styles, but here is an example using an iChat style:

The first (or bottom) line is cut off by the window. It is not so bad with this theme, but with some (like the style "Panther") it makes it almost impossible to read.

However, the problem seems to dissapear when the chat becomes long enough to have a scroll bar... :

Any ideas why this is happening?
Does any one else get this problem?
Any setting I can change (like font or size) to eliminate it?
