Problems moving contacts!

Post by gibbz »

So I'm having some issues. Basically, I'm one of those guys that likes to have a flat contact list (a list without groups). I know I won't be able to have one of those until version 0.8, and in the meantime I am content to just throw all my contacts in a single group and leave it like that.

Here's where my problems occur. When I chuck all my contacts into one group, it usually works with only the occasional problem (but that's not the big issue here). Then everything will be just ducky (ha ha) until I quit. When I reopen Adium, I am assaulted by an army of dialog boxes much like this:

And then, after labourously clicking "yes" on each of those dialog boxes, I realize that Adium has distributed my contacts among any number of groups, some familiar (such as "Individuals" or "Other Contacts") and some new and never seen before.

So why is this happening, can I not have just ONE group, with the name of my choice, in which I store all my contacts?

Hey, similar problem here.

I have used contact groups for ages, but had a few floating around outside the groups. When I imported them from MSN, they appeared in a group called 'Individuals'. Moved them into appropriate groups and deleted 'Individuals', and now get a stream of 'Buddy list synchronisation issues' every time I launch Adium, as above.

Suggestions for solutions or workarounds much appreciated!

You might try moving one or both of these from ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/ onto your desktop (don't delete them, replace them if they don't help):

Contact List.plist
ByObject (folder)

If that helps, great. But be forewarned that moving them will lose various settings (metacontacts, contact alerts, etc.)

Problems Moving Contacts (Changes Disapear After Quitting)

Post by trombonerr »

hello,

I just upgraded to .8 yesterday and since the upgrade I am unable to get any changes I make to my contacts to stick after I quit the program. I have followed suggestions of deleting files such as ByList.xml, contact list.plist, ByObject folder.

Initially when I upgraded it had some synchronisation errors on MSN which I replied Yes to in hopes that some people that couldn't previosuly see me will.

The issue is that if I delete or try to move a contact from one group to another (I like my Yahoo! and MSN and AIM people seperate). The changes stay until I quit when they are are all back to where they originally were. Any other suggestions.

I even tried using a different program to move them in hopes that they would stick but it didn't. Which makes me think it is an Adium issue and not just a primarily MSN issue.

cheers,

neal

can't move contacts at all

Post by ohswitch2 »

Hey, I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this yet (I couldn't find a thread) but I can't manually move my contacts since upgrading to .81 in 10.3.9. When i try to move a contact up or down in the list the entire list moves. This is independednt of what list style I'm using. Any suggestions? Am i doing something wrong or missing something? Any help would be sweet. Thanx!
