Help finding a preference

I searched the past posts without any luck and have been working on this for a while now. On my desktop computer I have all the contact list bubbles wrapping around each contact, and each bubble is the size of the text inside of it. On my powerbook all the bubbles are the same size and use up a lot of extra screen space. i went through every preference from the desktop and did the same on the powerbook and nothing would change the bubble sizes to fit. Any way, if someone can tell me how to do that, that will be great. thanks!

Preferences->Contact List. Edit your layout to be the "Contact Bubbles to Fit" style instead of "Contact Bubbles".
