Contact list placement on screen

Post by anditron »

I've been using Adium for a bit now and I love it!

Recently, I acquired a second monitor to use with my powerbook. So now, obviously, I have the joy of two screens. When working in Photoshop and Illustrator I use this other screen. The clarity is truer than my Powerbook so it's more efficient to have my Menu bar and tools on the other screen as well. I have set my appearance so that my dock and menu bar are over there, but it puts my Adium contact list over there too.

It's a little busy over there and if I could, I'd like to have my Adium contact list on my Powerbook screen. I would also rather have the pop-up alrerts of users going online and offline. Is this possible?

It seems that before I updated Adium that it would stay on the powerbook screen, but I can't say for certain. I do know that I'm not using the same set up as before, I used to open separate windows for each chat and now I just do tabs in one window.

FYI I am using Adium x0.74. I know there is another update since this one, but I only did this update at the beginning of the month and wasn't sure if there were more issues than I knew how to handle with 10.3.7

Cheers for any assistance you can throw my way.
Adium rocks.

What problem are you experiencing when you drag the contact list to your desired screen?

well, it won't let me move it at all. :/ Apparently.

Initially when I moved my menu bar to the other monitor, the contact list went over to that monitor along with it.

and now, I just switched my menu bar back to my Powerbook screen to shut down the other monitor, and the contact list is staying on the other monitor. I tried quitting Adium and restarting it with the monitor off. But nope, it stayed on the other monitor.

Odd, it never did this until I upgraded to 0.74.

It's staying on a monitor which is no longer connected?

Possible point of confusion: You have to hold command while dragging to move a window which does not have a title bar. Does that help?
