Hi,
I have a few ideas for dock icons that I would like to create, but I could not find any information on how to create dock icons.
If someone could please explain to me how to do this, or point me to a site which does so, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

easiest way to do it, is download an exsisting dock icon, and just replace the jpgs or giffs, or whatever they have em in these days.. play around with it till you get it to work.. viola!

crack an existing icon open with right/control-click and select show package contents, play around in there and find out what the stuff does.

I'll be making instructions along with a list of possible event values next week.

Dock Icons are easier though than Message Views…
Isn't it straightforward enough?

agreed. I find message views hopelessly confusing, but then I'm happy enough with the current selection that I don't feel any particular need to start experimenting on my own for the time being.

Hi there. Just joined up with the site and was interested in making a few Dock icons myself. Did a search and came across this thread. Was just wondering if those instructions were still coming. I know you say I can crack open an existing icon, but instructions straight from the horse's (duck's?) mouth would be good too...

Most icons only require using an icon that has similar animation. Make a new folder somewhere, this will be your new icon. Keep it as a normal folder because it will make you life easer. Take the icon and right click and select "get package contents". Now copy all files that pop up into your icon folder. Now you just swap out the .png files for your own images. If you want to get crazy open up the plist file with TextEdit (right click>Open With...>Other...). Take a second to look at the plist file. It lists each state and all the actions associated with it. If you can't figure it out just change out the images and leave it (but at least change the name and stuff while your in their). If you bribe me I might be able to assemble images for you

. Anyways, next you just add ".AdiumIcon" (no quotes) to the end of the folder name and, like magic, it becomes an icon.
I hope this is helpful

Cracking open a default icon is an easy way to learn.
