Hey everyone, long time reader, first time poster.

I read that the management of status is being discussed, and I would like to see that the away box is optional. I hate to see it around, but can seee that some do want it.

I know this is sacrilege, but I might suggest looking into the idea that Trillian has. of a subltle and small bar at the bottom of the roster with icons representing the status of each service.
note:
http://trillian.cc/downloads/getimage.p ... trick=.png

There then could also be what Trillian calls a global status icon which allows you to change them all at the same time...

I've made a quick illustration of my idea:

... also my status strip would be a swell way of dragging the roster around if you happen to like the borderless window, but I guess I could simplify it's functions:

The strip would be a summary of a status window. While the window has details of adding messages, and settings; the strip is simple, with an ichat roll down of the existing messages created. The window could be set up like a preference pane or something.

maybe like this

NOTE the items are supposed to be "away" "availible" "idle" etc. and the big field ontop is the existing away messages

I like this, but there should be some way to indicate which services have away messages up without having to flip through the tabs. Maybe something similar to the status icons on the tabs in the message view window.

Well, since we're mocking up away windows, here's my idea (please pardon the horrific photoshopped-in NSTableView and titles):

I'm not aware of problems with the new dock icon selector... could you post or post links to a couple of the icons in question?
I figured it out, sort of. The problem was that that the icons that didn't load were in a sub-folder in ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Dock Icons/. Once I moved them into the main folder, they resumed working. Or, half-working, since they still don't change to match away status. Does anyone know why Dock icons can't be in sub-folders anymore?
Yep, me too. ... I'll make a mockup later if needed, but how about something with tabs (across the top(?), for each account), and then just the usual window for the away-ness part?
I second that. A row of Adium-style tabs is an elegant solution to the problem at hand. Though, I would put it at the bottom, not the top, for consistency's sake.

evands wrote:Don't worry, it's definitely not finished yet. When it is, the same keystrokes as before will let you pull up the window, type, and go away. You can see this is is partially in place in recent source in that you can type as soon as the window opens and pressing Return sets the message rather than inserting a new line.
I just did a fresh build from SVN and I really like what you did with the Status menu today. However, for the "Custom..." away dialogue for AIM, could Auto-reply be enabled by default? This is the default behavior for AIM I believe.

I agree. In the build I downloaded tonight (9577), the status system is much better than this morning, and I've also noticed many fewer miscellaneous glitches and such. I'm with some others on here when I wish there was a window open for when I'm away, but I'm betting that'll be more than a one-day project (at least to get something that everybody agrees on).

Something minor I've noticed: In the advanced pane of the preferences, "Reformat Incoming Messages" gets cut off to just "Reformat Incoming M...". I'm not sure how you would fix this (if you would even want to), but the full name doesn't appear anywhere in the window.

IMHO, custom away status should still bear the cmd-Y keyboard shortcut. reassigning custom available status to cmd-opt-Y as it is now wouldn't be too bad tho.

also i second the motion for auto-reply with away message on as default for away statuses.

Revision not nightly build :)

A nightly build is updated once a night; revisions as much as the developer likes.

Also, the revisions aren't built, they are source.

Another quick request. When Adium is in the background and I choose "Custom..." from the menu extra, Adium should become the frontmost application.

Again, I just want to thank the developers for doing so many cool things with this application and for being so responsive to the users. It just keeps getting better and better.

The Status System has greatly improved! Hurray! I now only think it may be overdoing it by requesting to add collapsable folders for status. (ie: work, school) I have a lot of away messages....

Question: I can't seem to access some of my old away messages now. (They are now blank in the new system) Should I just recreate them?

No promises, but have been thinking about how this could be done.

Yeah... .7x->.80 upgrade code will be tested thoroughly and work, but I believe 0.8svn->0.8svn->0.8svn has gone through a series of revisions that have pretty much trashed saved away messages.

I was about to request that. I have waaaay too many saved away messages. :D They got trashed in an upgrade to .8, but I had my library folder backed up, so I just restored them from that and it works now.

*backs up adium's library folder*

Edit: I found a minor bug. "Alternating grid" always seems to be on, regardless of whether or not it's checked in the color theme prefs. The only way I found to get rid of it was to make both colors the same.

Also, the sound that I have playing for when I receive a background message gets doubled (sound played twice at the same time). I do not have the Event duplicated on the list.

Applescript for Away?

Post by bdad »

Hi all,

I am working on updating my Adium script for salling clicker and noticed the apple script dictionary hasn't been updated to manage a per service away message. Has that been implemented yet? Any pointers on the right syntax?

Thanks!

I found another bug (at least what I think is a bug). My autoreply will reply to EVERY message somebody sends me while I'm away, instead of just the first one like what used to happen. This is still revision 9577.
