Just don't like the small unrecognizable square, it's an ugly eye-catcher..

Right click the toolbar and select customize. Edit it to however you want.

1 - I'm pretty sure that's the desired behavior. At least I hope it is...
2 - Sounds like a problem with that dock icon, not with Adium (especially if every other icon works).

I suspect 3 is a problem with the message style, but I could be wrong about that. I'll let someone else with more knowledge respond to that one. And 4 is obviously a known issue since it's greyed out.

1 - Adium .77 did remember this and I kinda liked it.
2 - .77 works alright with this dock icon, that's why I mentioned it.
3 - Sounds reasonable (it makes the same "mistake" in .77)

I agree with Catfish_man (or is there a issue tracking and he is being sarcastic?), I like to help and not mention issues that are known..

We need a decent issue tracking system.. Maybe we'll set up trac as Growl has recently done.

1 - Status memory will return.
2- could you link to the dock icon?
3 - Do you see it with other message styles as well?

3. Surely this is a problem with your message style? Or your date and time settings. Nothing specifically Adium.

I've tried another message style and it used the 24h way of showing the time.
So it is a message style problem.

Are scripts in status messages supposed to be really, really fucked up? Because I've got a script that works fine in my profile, but doesn't work at all in a status message.

I've been mucking around with b1 of .8 and there's only one thing I've noticed.

If I get the tooltip in a Messenger account (I don't know if this applies for other account kinds) for a contact who just signed off it says "Last Seen" and then a freakin' huge number. Looks like a memory address or something like that.

Am I supposed to be posting feedback about 0.8 yet?

I've traced the problem to getting an album name from iTunes and posting it in a status message. As I said before, this works fine in a profile. There are some songs for which obtaining the album name does not work. For others, it does. All the songs I have use v2.4 ID3 tags.

Other weird things abound, too. Here's an example of my status message input.

Listening to "%_track_formatted" by %_artist %_album_formatted

This causes the problems mentioned above. The %_track_formatted script gets the iTunes track and replaces any double-quotations with single quotations. The %_album_formatted script gets the name of the album and returns one of two strings. If the album is a soundtrack, that is, the last word of its name is the word "Soundtrack", it will return the string "from the [soundtrack name] Original Soundtrack." So if the album name is "24 Original Soundtrack", the string "from the 24 Original Soundtrack" will be returned. If the album is not a soundtrack, it returns the string "from the album [album name]".

So ideally, my status message will read something like ...
Listening to "'24' Theme" by Sean Callery from the 24 Original Soundtrack

or

Listening to "Holiday" by Green Day from the album "American Idiot"

I get these strings in my profile, but not my status message. Curiously enough, if I enter just %_album_formatted as the status message, it returns the appropriate string! So does

%_track_formatted %_album_formatted

And so does

%_track_formatted %_artist %_album_formatted

BUT, as soon as I throw any kind of other text in there, like say

%_track_formatted by %_artist %_album_formatted,

it breaks. Now you might suggest having the AppleScript return a string like "Listening to ..." instead of putting it in the status message box. Tried that. Doesn't work. Very, very strange. Basically, if I want to prepend text to a string before outputting it, Adium's status breaks. But it doesn't care if I modify the text that's already there.

EDIT: These problems only occur when the status message in question is for a "Free for Chat" or "Available" mode. Everything works just fine using an away mode.

There's also this funky problem where build 10119 won't start up for me. Crashes each time I click Adium. I sent a report to you guys but yes... very bad problem. Not unless there's been a change in the files I was using with the earlier versions and something that it's expecting to be there isn't...

Nobody else has this crash. Try a fresh checkout and a clean build from your fresh checkout.

As far as I can tell, AIM, ICQ and MSN.

I have several AIM accounts set up in Adium, using build 10119 at the moment. One of the accounts has 34 contacts. All of those contacts used to be in one group. Adium forced me to break them up some time ago, and I resorted to installing AIM to try to bring them back into one group. This worked for AIM, but Adium continued to insist that contacts were in different groups than they actually were.

This morning I updated to r10119, from r9751, and lo and behold, several contacts which I had attempted to move into this main group were now there but contacts which I'd since added via Adium were not. I tried loading AIM and moving these contacts again. Adium did not see the change. I tried removing Contact List.plist and Window Positions.plist from ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/. Adium still did not see the change.

As a last resort I removed Adium.app from /Applications/ and extracted it from the tarball I'd made earlier (I always keep a few old revisions incase I need to roll back) in an effort to recreate the circumstances which caused favorable results earlier. Adium still did not see the change.

Any suggestions would be welcome. Unlike some, I don't give up on using a client I like just because of a little bit of trouble but all the same I would like to avoid having to use others for, well, anything. So close to that goal! So very close!

So why can't you just move them within Adium?

Do you use a background image? If so, with what setting? (tile/scale/etc.). If not, do you have a background color? Have you tried a fresh checkout and clean build?

When I attempt to do so I receive an error message that tells me the contact could not be moved, and that the most common reason for that is that the buddy list is full.

I have tried both by dragging / dropping and through the View Info interface.

I also have these crashes. It started with the 0.8SVN, but then in .77 I couldn't open the preferences without a crash.
Deleted the preferences; didn't work.
Deleted the ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0 folder; .77 started working again.
But 0.8SVN still crashed..

I'm updating 0.8 right now, I'll tell you what happened.
