This is one of those frustrating problems that I honestly don't even know where to start... I'll try to do some research into why some systems have crash symbols and some just have gibberish (like yours, no fault of yours I'm sure!) over winter break.
Just an update here. I have been using Fire as my multi chat client, since Adium (my fav) and Proteus (my second fave) crash. The new version of Fire has what they call web display, and includes things to make it look more like adium (smooth operator chat theme, for example). If I try to run Fire with "web display" enabled, it crashes JUST LIKE ADIUM! So, I'm guessing something is happening with the display, just like you said. Safari works fine, and Quicktime is latest version.

Possibly a corrupt WebKit framework? (another clue here would be that in Safari you might see 'localized string not found' on some form buttons on web pages)
Could you try running the latest combo updater of 10.3.7 (assuming you are running Panther, what OS are you running btw?), repairing permissions, then rebooting?

here's a thought: try removing the ".gaim" directory in your home folder with this terminal (in Applications>Utilities) command:
rmdir -r .gaim

Yes, I did that, but the same error still occurs, even though I have upgraded to 0.75. Aggh! I have another application that uses webkit, and it works fine, so it is not a broken webkit in Safari. Sorry about the other login username, but my old one (snarfer2007) is messed up... I can't use Forgot my password, and my other password is "wrong".

I am also having this problem and have been since Sunday afternoon. I tried upgrading to both .74 and .75 since I was using .73, but nothing worked. I tried deleting the program and reinstalling and it still won't work. As for some other questions that have been mentioned upthread, Safari works fine. On Sunday I was having trouble getting a few different sites to load, but so were the other people on my wireless network. Also, my Quicktime is the latest version. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't seen any problems with webkit in Safari. I'm running the lastes 10.3.7 of Panther. I've done permissions repair, but can do them again.
Thanks for the persistance.

Just did that. Still crashes on message sending, right after startup. Gonna try the new update. Thanks for still trying.

What about viewing the details of the OS X crash report and copying them in an email directly to the Adium Devs?
Might that provide a little more insight?
