#DBE8FF is about the right color blue.
Image? What image?

I assume we're talking about the message view, with the coloured names? I can make any changes you'd like, if you tell me what colour you want the names on the background.
There is an image on that view. I made a screenie earlier:

Now, where I'm typing, that whole block there that is represented for me should be blue, and changing the title color of my name is probably a good idea.

Leaving Adam's as white is good. Basically this would match the look of a table of stuff containing data in a standard os x view. It wouldn't be too flashy. There are other problems with it too, but I think if this were done those could be rectified and this would fit.

Ah, you mean the contact image. Silly me :)

Ok, I'll see if I can get some samples done for you tonight.

Try this. I won't be able to do any more work on it till next weekend, though, so feel free to modify / discard it, without worrying about treading on my toes. But let me have a copy of anything you alter :)

PS. It's not as neat as I'd like, there are some superfluous classes.

I put up some screenshots up that compare Adium to ichat. The point it is compare how well it fits in with OS X and it's aqua. I think with SoaPM's message style it looks great! I think you should make that the default message view set up. If you do, I predict you will have users that open Adium for the first time and think "this is how messaging is supposed to be in OS X". If I remember correctly that is the goal of adium, and you guys are almost their. It's an amazing app.

Here are the screen shots: http://homepage.mac.com/wunderwood/images/compare.html (the pictures may take a second to load due to their file size)
