Meta Those Old Contacts

I've a ton of logs going back to 2003 (converted from MSN to Adium's format) and in that time several of my contacts have been through a bunch of different addresses.

What I'd like to do is corral these unruly old identities together into meta contacts like you can with the "live" ones.

Adium (1.0b7) handles all 3000 of my logs just fine besides this one point. The way it handles old addresses is quite logical and I appreciate that. But could the meta contact concept be integrated here too?

Anyway, thanks for the best IM app out there.

That's a really good idea... programatically, based on how the log viewer is doing things right now, it'd be tough to implement, unfortunately. Could you file a trac ticket for your request so the idea doesn't get lost in the shuffle? I wouldn't -expect- to see a solution in the near future, but you never know ;)

Yeah, alright. I'll do battle with trac. Never tried it before, fingers crossed for the newb.

It's always nice to hear a moment's idea is shared. I thought of it the first time I saw the new chat history window, which seems cleaner to me, and realised my active meta's were already doing what I wanted for all of them.
