Default window size

I use a 12-inch iBook, so screen real estate is at a premium, and I like small windows. Adium's default window size for IM's used to be pretty small on my screen, but somehow it changed so that the default size is pretty large. Is there a preference file I can edit to change the default window size to something smaller?

It should be the same size every time you open the message window. Is that not the case?

Oh, yes, it is. What I mean is that once upon a time, when I opened a new one (a chat to a new contact that I have not chatted with before), it was a small box; now it's a bigger box, much larger than the boxes I already have for other contacts.

I see. The old per-contact sizing may not be appropriate in the modern, tab-based era... but I think people would whine if it were removed. Maybe a happy medium can be found.

I don't use tabs, so I like having smaller boxes for each contact, and I don't like how the default size of the window is a lot bigger now; although I know I'm probably in the minority in my lack of use of tabbed IM'ing, so I can understand if the preferences for individual contacts goes away.

But to answer my question, the default window size (the one that comes up when I initiate a chat with a contact I have not chatted with before) cannot be changed by tweaking some plist values?

It'd be the MessageWindow.nib file in Adium.app/Contents/Resources. You'll need Interface Builder.

I agree that the default size was a bit larger than it should be, though I think the previous default was too small, which is why it was changed. I've resized it from 500x300 to 450x275 default for the next beta.
